About the Colberg Company, Video Duplicators and DVDRite.
In 1968 when the ALAN B COLBERG COMPANY was first formed our goal was defining how technology could aid in the development of first class motion picture production with the inclusion of new and innovative technologies. We were one of the teams to test the first portable camcorder for Shiboden electronics, cerca 1968 Even though it was a black and white reel to reel recorder the camera was the first of what we consider to be normal today.
During that period of time we also participated in the uploading and downloading of information to a permanent station on the moon to aid in picture enhancement of electronic images being taken of the earth. Yes, the battery did fail rather quickly on the “Earthcam” Has a lot changed since then?
During the 70 the push was from tape to film. We completed two four camera shoots of dramatic content and then converted them (with the help of Crest Labs) to 35 mm film releases. Just between you and me they were way too grainy of be of professional quality and for around 20 years not too many more people took on the challenge. In the early 90’s that all changed with Mr. Lucas and his “Star Wars” and his many other inventions.
In 1985 we formed VIDEO DUPLICATORS and became very involved in the production and duplication of VHS titles for a very booming and profitable market that did very well up to the advent of DVD and that is almost where we are today.
